AI Images · the arithmetic
the unit$0.1155 per image · Image Editing API, Plus plan: EUR 100/month for 1,000 images, printed on the page as '(EUR 0.10 per image)'. The Remove Background API (Basic) is EUR 20/month for 1,000 images, EUR 0.02 each.

the sumRecovered on 14/9/2026 by leaving the subscription page, which is where the contradiction was. The API pricing page states the figure in so many words: Plus, EUR 100 per month for 1,000 images, '(EUR 0.10 per image)', and that plan is the one carrying the generative tools - AI Backgrounds, Create Any Image, Edit with AI, Product Staging, Virtual Model, Ghost Mannequin. EUR 0.10 x 1.1551 = $0.1155. Only the currency conversion is ours; the per-image price is Photoroom's own. The subscription page is still unusable for this: it prices a seat, not an operation, and its credit-to-generation pairings carry 'up to' (Pro: 6,000 AI credits, 'Up to 1,600' AI Images), so the credits per image come out at 3.75 and Photoroom warns the credit allowance 'may vary depending on your country or region'.

the catchExchange rate source: European Central Bank euro reference rates, 14/9/2026, EUR 1 = USD 1.1551 (https://www.ecb.europa.eu/stats/eurofxref/eurofxref-daily.xml). Both Photoroom pages state 'Prices displayed in Euro (Italy)' and offer no dollar selector. Background removal alone through the Basic API is EUR 0.02 = $0.0231 per image. On the subscription side Photoroom's core tools (background removal, retouch, AI Fill, Expand, Image Enhancer) consume no credits at all, so their marginal cost is zero; the Pro seat is EUR 5.99/month billed yearly (EUR 9.99 monthly) with 6,000 AI credits and 1,000 exports. API and MCP usage are billed separately from the seat's export allowance.
